Govt ensures greater women participation in national development: Shaza
Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja says the government is taking comprehensive measures to ensure maximum participation of women in national development through enhanced opportunities across various sectors.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad today, she said women constitute nearly fifty percent of Pakistan's population and their inclusion is vital for sustainable economic growth.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja said Pakistan is among the few countries where the IT Ministry is led by a woman, reflecting the government's commitment to women's empowerment and leadership at the highest level.
The Minister said Pakistani women are highly talented and have consistently delivered when entrusted with responsibilities. She said special focus is being given to empowering women in the IT sector through ongoing reforms and initiatives.
She noted that women are also excelling in e-commerce, which has expanded their access to global markets and created new business and employment opportunities.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government is working to remove barriers to women's development and is particularly focused on bringing women from underprivileged areas into the mainstream economy.
Highlighting female entrepreneurship, she said success stories of women across different sectors prove that they can achieve excellence given equal opportunities.
The Minister for IT said the Ramadan Package distribution through digital wallets has helped promote financial inclusion of women while improving transparency in the system.
